A Few New Pilot Tips

#1 BE CAREFUL!

These engines can do significant injury! Most glow engines turn in excess of 12,000 rpms. We recommend wood props for two reasons, the first is that if you get a part of your body into the prop it is less likely to do severe injury. The second is that they break easier and will often absorb some energy during crashes and helps minimize engine and firewall damage during crashes.

#2 Find a local club

Find a club in your area and ask when they have training, who does training, and what buddy box system they have. Some trainers may charge for this, some may have a day of the week dedicated for training new pilots. If they do not have a buddy box system that they can use to train you (HITEC 4 channel for LT-40), you may purchase one from us for about $35.00. ( A buddy box system is the hooking two transmitters together with a cord, so that the trainer can take over control of the plane instantly from the trainee, thus saving the trainee money and repair time.) If you choose to fly on your own without a buddy box system and trainer your our asking to PICK UP STICKS!

#3 Buy the right trainer airplane

A lot of new pilots want to buy the neat looking, fast, and expensive airplanes, this is a BIG mistake. Not only does it take time to build such aircraft, but is takes only a second to turn it into rubble. These types of airplanes are extremely unforgiving, they have to be constantly flown and can get into spins very easily. In addition, they almost always require some type of modification during assembly, such as better wheels, stronger servos, control rods etc. The LT-40 is a very durable aircraft, I (webmaster) have personally crashed my LT-40 three times after going solo and have to spent only 3-4 hours fixing damage from all three incidents.

#4 Choose the right equipment

We have put together the LT-40 packages based on our trainers and clubs experience. The HITEC radio systems are our radio system of choice for airplanes. The Thunder Tiger PRO 46 has enough power to get you out of trouble (sometimes power won't help!), and you can use the engine of your future, more advanced airplanes without having to purchase another engine. This engine has been extremely reliable and powerful. It just right for the LT-40!

#5 Have fun!
